Position of Pool

Position your pool in a part of the property protected from falling leaves and in a safe distance from places with an increased number of insects. The undersoil must be solid rather than a backfill. A backfill would need to be thickened and the base concrete slab would need to be reinforced.

Placement of Pool

Once the concrete base is created and has hardened, it is possible to proceed to the placement of the pool. Spread out a geotextile or a blinding extruded polystyrene on a perfectly clean surface and place the pool shell. Before placing the pool, a non-absorbent thermal insulation must be inserted between the ribs along the entire pool perimeter, ideally the Bachel 20 mm external insulation – we recommend including it in the delivery. While placing the pool, pay close attention not to let any dirt, stones, etc. on the surface under the pool.

Excavation – Concrete Foundation

The excavation dimensions are based on the drawing and size of the desired pool. Grade the ground with 10 cm of drainage roadstone. It is very important to drain the slab! (see drawing). The concrete slab must be perfectly level and smooth. Frame the walls with a rebar to reinforce the concrete base. If the customer selects roman steps, it is necessary to put in the concrete base under the steps as well. The slab under the steps is on the same level as the slab under the pool; base its dimensions on the drawing.

Do not forget about the following additional connections when pouring the concrete:

Under ČSN 33-2000-4-41, the additional connections electrically connect foreign conductive parts in 0-1a2 zones with the protective conductors of non-live parts of the equipment located in these zones. This connection with the protective conductor should be executed in the immediate vicinity, e.g. on the equipment or the distribution box or other equipment (ladder, handle, enclosure rails, conductive floor, etc.).

Filter Technology and Counterflow System Placement

We should strive to place the filter units as close to the pool as possible; however, the edge of the underground enclosure or electric device/filter pump/etc. shall be at least at a distance of 2 m; the maximum distance of the filtration unit from the pool is 15 m. The ideal location would be basement premises, an agricultural building, etc. If this is not possible, the filtration unit shall be placed in a plastic or concrete waterproof underground enclosure. The underground enclosure must be located at such a level as to have its edge at least 10 cm above the surrounding terrain to avoid surface water running over the edge.

To avoid any damage or deformation of the underground enclosure under soil or water pressure it is necessary to reinforce the underground enclosure with rebar and concrete its walls. While concreting the underground enclosure it is necessary to strut it transversely and longitudinally with wooden braces. It is also very important to place a drain under the underground enclosure to prevent the groundwater pressure.

Building instructions

Wall the pool by using concrete blocks

  • concrete the pool along its perimeter tightly to the ribs by three courses of 500x200x220 cm blocks. Intertwine the blocks with a steel rebar approx. 6-8 mm. Pour concrete over the blocks. Insert additional rebar into soft concrete in order to finish the walling with other course of blocks. Pour the concrete into the space between the polystyrene and the block!
  • drill a 15 mm hole in every other vertical plastic reinforcement (approx. in the middle of its height), i.e. at the level of the rib so the pushed-through rebar is placed between the blocks. Push the 6-8 mm-thick and 60 cm-long steel rebar halfway through the holes and bend it transversely away from the pool. Concrete this steel in between the block gaps.
  • drill a 15 mm hole every 100 cm in the middle of the longitudinal plastic reinforcement along the entire perimeter. Push the 6-8 mm-thick and 60 cm-long steel rebar halfway through the holes and bend it transversely.
  • tie the entire pool perimeter with 6-8 mm-thick steel rebar and push it through both the vertical and transverse rebar in order to create a concrete collar of ca 30x30 cm around the entire pool. This concrete collar is used as a concrete base for the tile placement.

Gradual Concreting of the Pool Walls

The creation of the base is the same as in option I. Drill holes along the perimeter in order to anchor the steel rebar (the distance between holes is approx. 1m). Push the 6-8 mm-thick steel rebar through the drilled holes close to the ribs along the pool perimeter which contains an embedded 100x100x6 mm mesh and pour slightly moist concrete between the polystyrene and the walling (or excavation wall) approx. to the height of 30 cm. At the same, be sure to keep the pool water level 20 cm higher than the current concrete construction. Insert another rebar into the soft concrete and after it hardens finish concreting the entire pool to 30 cm under the desired height. Anchoring the plastic ribs of the vertical and horizontal steel rebar is done the same as when using the concrete fittings.

While pouring the concrete, pay special attention to the concrete pressure so it does not damage the pool walls. Attention: when choosing this building procedure it is necessary to place the pool on the concrete slab in the excavation by a crane.

Rules for both building solutions: Line the entire skimmer with 1-2 cm thick polystyrene. The skimmer and the connected pipes must be able to dilate.

Cast sand under and over the piping system. Place the pipeline freely and so that the settling of the terrain does not break the joints and damage the pipes. The customer, coordinated by the company’s technician, is always responsible for the unloading of the pool from the transporting vehicle and placing it into the prepared concrete base.

Pool Maintenance

Wiring

The wiring is implemented by an assembly agency or by a worker qualified under the Directive 50/1978 Sb. Upon installation, the following ČSN standards shall be followed: 33 2000-4-41, 33 2000-5-52, 33 2000-5-54, 33 2000-7-702, 330 2000-6-61, EN 60439, 36 0600-2-1 and related standards.

  • pool with basic technology – pool equipped with filtration (or lighting and counterflow): the wiring for such pool can be implemented by one’s own supplier company under the above-mentioned requirements
  • heated pool (or with the pool water treatment system, dehumidifier, etc.): due to the complexity, we recommend inviting a specialist to implement the wiring for such equipped pool, i.e. specialist for wiring, revisions and maintenance service, Mr. Kristek, phone: +420 606 904 633. Attention: In the case of such wiring, it is necessary to contact Mr. Kristek prior to stretching the cables
All wiring must be fitted into a cable protector.

Pool Coping (see drawings)

  • if the pool top-finish is a coping rim with tiles along the pool, finish the concrete ring beam so that the selected tiles will be just below the coping rim (see drawing)
  • if the pool is finished with a concrete collar, finish the concrete ring beam at the same level as the top rim of the pool Set the spout of the collar approx. 5 mm forward from the pool wall and glue it with an outdoor tile adhesive. Point it with silicone joint cement (see drawing). Apply Repesil to the concrete pool copings (repelling water and dirt). Do not apply the product by a brush but spray it.

Water Treatment

The pool on its own does not ensure uninterrupted bathing and pool fun. It is necessary to properly take care of the pool water. Our company would therefore like to offer you all other necessary accessories which will help you to maintain the pool water not only crystal-clear but sanitary safe and free of bacteria. Use of individual chemical types and testers evaluating their effectiveness.

Pool Winterisation

The pool shall be filled up over the winter season. Drain the water to only reach 20 cm under the skimmer and close the inlet jets using lids. Open the pipe valves, loosen the screws, and open the drain valves on the pump, filter, heater, etc. Drain water from the skimmer (if the filtration is not inclined and the water drains off by gravity). Disassemble the ladder, treat the water with winterisation chemicals, fit the pool and the skimmer with winter tubes and cover the pool with a tarp.
