Water Treatment
CTX Chemicals
The times when you had to fill your pool with copper sulphate, aluminium sulphate, chloramine and other well-proved compounds are long gone. Those could then lead to a visit to the dermatologist or ophthalmologist as the worst case scenario; the lesser evil was the red and irritated skin and sore eyes of the bathing children or wife’s new green highlights.
However, the times have changed in this regard and nowadays you can enjoy crystal clear water that is safe even for children when you adhere to the most basic rules of CTX product use.
Ideal pH Value Water Treatment
The pH value is one of the most important information upon which the effect of most disinfectants depends. If the pH is too low, the metal parts may corrode and colours of plastic parts and films may fade. If the pH is too high, the water may get cloudy, you can smell the chlorine and your eyes may get irritated due to calcium sedimentation. The only thing you need to remember is that the ideal pH value of your pool ranges from 7.2 – 7.6. The pH may change due to overall water alkalinity which should be monitored by the DPD testing kits or other water testing equipment. You may adjust the pH value by adding CTX 10 pH - or CTX 20 pH + while the water filtration is on to ensure the water circulation.
Initial Chlorination
In order to remove the microorganisms that are part of the seemingly clean water, you need to perform shock water treatment by CTX 200/GR – chlorine shock. Mix this agent with water according to the manual in a container intended solely for this purpose, spread it evenly on the water surface and turn on the water filtration circulation mode to mix it sufficiently.
Regular Chlorination and Disinfection
Ideal pool chlorine levels range from 1 – 3 ppm (parts per million) to remove the algae, bacteria, and microorganisms while not being harmful to your health (you can find out the water chlorine levels by using the DPD testing kit). When you reach these levels, continue adding the CTX 392 triplex slowly soluble tablets (the ideal agent with chlorine, anti-algae agent and flocculant for regular chlorination and disinfection) or the CTX 370 chlorine tablets.
To increase the efficiency of these disinfectants, you should regularly add the CTX 530 algicide and CTX 60 clarifier. These agents remove most known algae and have fast bactericidal, algaecidal, and fungicidal effects.
These 10-day effect tablets can be placed in the float, chlorine dispenser, or skimmer. Although they need to be added only once per 10 days, they guarantee safe and regular pool water treatment. Naturally, the proper dosage depends also on other factors – water temperature, weather, and overall pool maintenance. We urge you to read and follow the instructions for each of the products.
Possible Issues and Their Removal
Cloudiness, Algae:
- these issues can be usually solved by adjusting the pH value to the ideal 7.2 – 7.6
- you can “shock” the water by the ultra chlorine CTX 200/GR agent
- at the same time, add the CTX 41 flocculant agent (it lumps the dead algae so you can vacuum them from the bottom)
- next, add the CTX 530 or CTX 60 to remove the algae
- after 24 hours, scrub the walls and remove the dead algae in the pool by the vacuum, filter the water continuously and clean the filter as needed. Always use the CTX 75 DETERGENT for cleaning the plastic walls and films during this cleaning. Any other agents, especially detergents, are not suitable for health reasons and cause the water to cloud.
The water is cloudy or lacks clarity:
- check the pH value and active chlorine percentage and adjust them to the ideal values
- add the CTX 60 – water clarifier according to the instructions and filter the water continuously
Water Treatment During Prolonged Absence
If you wish to use your pool after a vacation without cleaning and refilling you need to adhere to the following instructions:
- adjust the pH to the ideal value
- add a triple dose of the CTX 370 slowly soluble stabilised chlorine tablets in the chlorine dispenser
- add the CTX 530 agent – algicide according to the instructions
- cover the pool with the tarp
- make sure that the filtration is turned on daily for at least 2 hours
- when you return, check and adjust the pH value and chlorine concentration
Pool Winterisation
Prepare the pool for the winter after the swimming season. When you winterise your pool correctly, you can save time for making it operational in the spring. The first step for winterising your pool is cleaning the water properly, treating the water with the CTX 200/GR, cleaning the sand filter and draining the water up to the skimmer level and approximately 5 – 10 cm below the return jet fitting. Secure all the inlet jets by the inlet jet covers. Clean all the dirt on the water surface by the CTX 75 agent. Add the winter additive CTX 550 WINTER to the water remaining after the partial draining of the pool – 1 litre of the winter additive is enough for 30.000 litres of water. The CTX 550 will prevent the calcium sedimentation on the pool walls. Put several floating objects (polystyrene, wood) in the water to relieve the expansion stress.
Again, we urge you to read the instruction manuals for all the chemical agents, observe the correct dosage and follow the instructions provided in the manual!!!
We can deliver all the listed CTX water treatment agents you order.
Equipment Underground Enclosures
Technology Underground Enclosure
One should strive to place the filter unit as close to the pool as possible; however, the edge of the underground enclosure or electric device/filter pump shall be at least at a distance of 2 m; the maximum distance of the filtration unit from the pool is 15 m. The ideal location would be basement premises, an agricultural building, etc. If this is not possible, the filtration unit shall be placed in a plastic or concrete waterproof underground enclosure. The underground enclosure must be located at such a level as to have its edge at least 10 cm above the surrounding terrain to avoid surface water running over the edge.
Counterflow Underground Enclosure
The counterflow unit must be placed in the pool axis in an underground enclosure, plastic or concrete, of 1300 mm (L) x 600 mm (W) x 900 mm (H) and at a distance of 2000 mm from the pool edge. Attention: all vents (pipe, cable) into the underground enclosure must be fitted with waterproof shut-off valves in order to avoid pressurised water getting inside.
